US Airways Group Inc. plans to add at least 150 positions to its reservations call center in Reno.
The company said last week the growth will come as it brings previously outsourced reservations operations back in-house.
The call center, which already employs about 200 people, was operating as a unit of America West, which changed its name after it acquired US Airways.
The decision won applause from the region's economic development agency.
"It's always a good sign to see a national company like US Airways, with a long-standing presence in Northern Nevada, expand creating new jobs in the area," said Chuck Alvey, president and chief executive officer for the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada. "Strong air transportation services is a key driver of our region's economy and an integral part of Northern Nevada's future business growth."
