Broadcast Internet service wafts further across the Truckee Meadows after Great Basin Internet Services recently begun to broadcast a signal from the rooftop of the Reno Hilton.

Along with the antenna atop the Silver Legacy, that provides line-of-sight Internet service to any customer with the receiving antenna, says Bruce Robertson, president of the company.

Reno-based Great Basin Internet recently acquired the Reno customers of Boise-based Velocitus, the Internet arm of Idacomm, a telephone and communications company.

Great Basin Internet has also rolled out VoIP (Voice over Internet) to provide a dial tone for home or company PBX systems that currently have wireless, T1 line or DSL connections.
