Results of a survey that tracks how Washoe County executives feel about the region's economy will be updated this week and the new figures are more broadly based than earlier surveys.

Some 391 executives responded to the Northern Nevada Business Outlook Survey that will be unveiled during Directions 2006 Wednesday at Reno Hilton.

The event is sponsored by the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada.

Sara Hart, director of research at Renobased InfoSearch, said her company sought responses from members of EDAWN, the chamber and Western Industrial Nevada.

The 391 responses included in the newest survey compare with 127 six months ago and 301 in the inaugural survey that was unveiled in January 2005.

Valerie Glenn, the president, chairman and chief executive officer of the Rose-Glenn Group, said her marketing agency joined with InfoSearch to create the survey in 2004 because Rose-Glenn saw the need for a statistical way of tracking economic expectations.

"We all know what's going on in our individual businesses, but this gives a sense of what is happening community-wide," she said.

Both companies donate their time to prepare the survey data, which is collected online.
