State disciplines five area contractors

The Nevada State Contractors Board has disciplined five contractors from northern Nevada.

The license of Visionscape of Sierra Nevada, a Reno company, was revoked and the company was ordered to pay restitution to homeowners. The 14 violations cited by the board included abandonment of a project, willfully disregarding building laws, working in a way that caused injury and using an unlicensed contractor.

The license of Vincent S. Carlese of Reno was revoked for substandard workmanship, willful disregard of building laws, abandonment of a project and other violations. Carlese also was fined $1,100 and investigative costs and ordered to pay restitution to homeowners.

Eureka Builders Inc. of Carson City was fined $800 and investigative costs and reprimanded for working beyond the scope of its license and failing to provide the proper information on a contract or proposal.

Hamlin Development Co. Inc. of Reno was ordered to pay $3,500 to a homeowner and pay investigative costs for substandard workmanship and failure to comply with an order to correct it.
