Reno Mazda Kia will move into two showrooms on six acres at South Virginia and Holcomb in mid-2007.
"We think it's an expansion area out there," says Terry Peterson, a partner. The new location will employ 130, up from about 90 now, he adds.
The dealership will build a "Total Revolution" design provided by Mazda corporate, but Daniel D. Carne-Architect, based in Reno, will customize the generic plans provided by both the Mazda and Kia design groups.
The project will break ground this summer. Construction will begin in the fall and is expected to finish by summer 2007.
The dealership will include a service department for any brand of automobile. "That market is starving for service," says Peterson. The dealership will also include a car wash, which will be provided free with any service.
The dealership's Kietzke Lane location will become a service facility for Reno Toyota, owned by Tom Dolan.
Reno Mazda Kia is owned by partners Peterson, Tom Dolan, Sam Cowan and Patt Fiskus.
