General Metals Corp., a company planning to bring the Independence Mine near Battle Mountain back into production, has moved its corporate office to Reno from Jersey City, N.J.

The mine historically was a silver producer. It's been closed since 1987.

General Metals Corp, publicly traded since its acquisition by Recov Energy Corp. earlier this year, is headed by Steve Parent as president and chief executive officer. He took the reins last week after working as chief operating officer for General Metals.

Other executives include Dave Salari, chief operating officer, and Jim Porter, chief financial officer.

Parent said the company moved to offices at 1 E. Liberty in Reno to be closer to its prospect at Battle Mountain.

Along with its work at the Independence Mine, the company is in talks to acquire mining concessions in Ghana and is reviewing several potential copper projects as well.
