Looking to build economic leadership in rural Nevada, the state's Commission on Economic Development next month will resume a program of workshops on community and regional competitiveness.
Speakers at the workshop in Fallon will include Angelos Angelou, an economic development consultant who is working with communities in northern Nevada, and Milan Wall, founder of the Heartland Center for Leadership Development.
Angelou will review techniques that communities can use to sharpen their competitive edge.
Wall, meanwhile, will conduct a workshop on hometown competitiveness and its key elements leadership, youth, entrepreneurship and building local assets.
Audrey Allen, director of rural development for the Commission on Economic Development, said the June 14 workshop resumes a program that's been on hold for several years.
"We want to develop leadership skills at the local level," she said. "We want all of our communities to be competitive."
Along with the Commission on Economic Development, the event will be hosted by the Churchill County Economic Development Authority, the Northern Nevada Development Authority, the Western Nevada Development District, Fallon Convention and Tourism Authority and the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology.
