Truckee Meadows Community College has begun offering a program that helps employers identify the skill levels of their workers and potential employees.
The college has launched ACT's National Career Readiness Certificate program, which provides assessments of real-world skills that the employers believe are critical to job success.
The National Career Readiness Certificate is based on three exams that measure the applicant's skills in the areas of reading for information, applied mathematics and locating information.
Participants are awarded bronze, silver or gold certificates, with a higher certification level indicating that the recipient has the skills for a larger number of the jobs profiled by the program.
The program is overseen by the certification testing and training center at TMCC's workforce development and continuing education division at the Meadowood Center on Neil Road.
