A nightclub and restaurant with several theme lounges will open this month in the building formerly occupied by Ichiban Steakhouse, Reno Live and Eddie's Fabulous 50s, among others.
The 210 Sierra Club at the northeast corner of 2nd and Sierra Streets will occupy 17,500 square feet on the second floor of the building.
The 53,000-square-foot building is currently undergoing more than a $1 million renovation including a change in its fa ade. It's been empty for two years.
"The tenants are also planning to open up the balcony that goes around the building when the renovations are done and have outside seating that extends over the sidewalks," said Rod Cogburn, an agent with Coldwell Banker Commercial who is handling the leasing.
The owners of the club, Jill Gianoli and Rob Stone, bring a lot of experience to the enterprise as former employees of the Eldorado. Gianoli was the manager of the Eldorado's BuBinga Lounge.
The building's owners, a company called A Piece of Property, hope to lease the rest of the building into 2,500 to 10,000 square feet spaces.
Depending on the improvements that tenants want, space is renting for $2.25 to $2.75 a square foot.
Some 35,000 square feet are available on the main floor and basement, said Cogburn.
He said potential tenants include a company interested in opening a daycare center for children of parents who want to go to the casinos. Retailers, he said, have looked at ground-floor space.
