Matt Brown, Matt Smith

Matt Brown of Reno has been named associate editor of Nevada Magazine, and Matt Smith of Gardnerville has been named art director of the tourism magazine operated by the Nevada Commission on Tourism.

Brown is a former Reno Gazette-Journal copy editor, writer and sports reporter. A graduate of California State University, Chico, he served stints in sports information at Chico State and the University of Nevada, Reno, before becoming sports and outdoors editor at the Sierra Sun newspaper in Truckee. He worked at the Gazette-Journal since 2004.

Smith operated his own graphic design business, Design Smith, serving resort hotels and other businesses for the past nine years. He is a University of Oregon graduate in journalism and advertising.
