A 418,000-square-foot distribution center under construction at Spanish Springs Business Center is the second largest build-to-suit industrial building ever undertaken in the Reno market.

And other projects are just over the horizon at the 411-acre industrial center developed by Hawco Properties on the west side of Pyramid Highway.

The newest project at the center is under construction for Parts Unlimited and Drag Specialities, units of LeMans Corp. of Janesville, Wisc.

The project built by United Construction is scheduled for completion in March.

With the exception of Wal-Mart's massive 915,564-square-foot distribution center at Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, the Spanish Springs building is believed to be the largest industrial building undertaken on behalf of a single user in the region.

Parts Unlimited specializes in parts and accessories for motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles and watercraft. Drag Specialties, meanwhile, is a distributor of aftermarket parts and accessories for Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

The companies' distribution center is on 26 acres at the intersection of Pyramid Highway and Isidor Court.

Dave Simonsen of Alliance Commercial, the broker for Spanish Springs Business Center, said the LeMans Corp. project means that 208 acres of the 411-acre center now have been spoken for. Another 50 acres are in escrow, he said, and negotiations are under way with potential purchasers of about 80 additional acres.

The development is about eight miles north of Interstate 80 on Pyramid Highway.
