The company that's converting the old Speakeasy Casino in downtown Reno to a 234-unit Reno Regency condo development will also develop a lot at Sixth and Evans streets.

Kamper Corp. of Beverly Hills, Calif. plans a 10,000-square-foot strip shopping center on the lot, says Parviz Hariri, president of Kamper Corp. and a partner in the Reno Regency project. The final design has yet to be determined, he says, but it will include a convenience store, dry cleaner, and other services for area residents.

Kampar, a Nevada contractor, will build the center.

Jeff Frame is the architect and says the design may also include 12 two-story loft residences above the shops.

However, no decision will be made until talks are completed with the City of Reno, says Hariri, who adds that groundbreaking won't occur until mid-2007.
