Gary Johnson has been named Nevada deputy state director for minerals by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
Johnson, who will take the job in early December, currently works in a similar position with the BLM in New Mexico.
He's held mining-related positions with the agency in New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Oregon and Washington, D.C. He also worked 14 years as a mining engineer in the private sector in Alabama and Pennsylvania.
Johnson holds a bachelor's degree in mining engineering from West Virginia University.
