The Tahoe Daily Tribune changed its size, content and pricing now it's free.

The newspaper owned by Reno-based Swift Communications Inc. serves Tahoe's south shore. The change was made in response to a market survey that considered the readership mix: residents, second homeowners and tourists, says Publisher Gail Powell.

While the broadsheet trimmed its size down to a tall tabloid today, it will nearly double circulation, from 12,000 to 20,000, says Powell. The paper will increase distribution, adding 235 new racks along with counter availability in stores and professional offices. Advertising rates will remain the same.

Content changes include shorter articles to reflect the way people now read, says Powell. New daily content includes community calender and entertainment, TV listings, sports and adventure, and a news summary called Talking Points.
