The Comstock Chronicle will now cover Storey County government and agency meetings under its new ownership, says Editor Angela Mann.
She and Richard Mann, the paper's publisher, bought the weekly paper that was founded in 1873. It prints 1,200 issues to serve Virginia City and is also distributed down to Dayton and Mark Twain and by mail subscription.
The paper will continue to carry local columnists who provide human-interest commentary, says Mann. The Comstock Chronicle is the paper of record for Storey County notices.
A 37-year veteran journalist, Mann worked for the Oakland Tribune, was editor of Sparks Today (a section published by the Reno Gazette Journal) and served as editor of the Sparks Tribune.
The challenge, she says, is being the new people moving in. The new owners plan to move to Virginia City, says Mann, to be on the front lines of what's happening in town.
