Itronics Inc. of Reno lost $1.2 million on revenues of $849,065 in the second quarter.
This compares with net income of $273,947 on revenues of $768,023 a year earlier, but last year's numbers were boosted by a one-time accounting gain of nearly $1 million related to a derivative instrument.
Itronics, which recycles photochemicals into fertilizer, said sales were up 11 percent from a year ago. It said uneven power supply to its Reno-area plant hurt silver production, and sales and marketing expenses were up from last year's levels.
