About 300 architects from Mountain States will be in Incline village Sept. 12-15 for a regional conference of The American Institute of Architects.

The event sponsored by the AIA of Northern Nevada will focus on the role played by the building industry to combat global warming.

In fact, Kimberly Phipps-Nichol of Blue Water Studio and John Toth of John Toth & Associates, both of Reno, provided financial support to purchase carbon credits to offset the global-warming effects of the conference at the Hyatt Regency Resort as well as the effects of travel by speakers to the event.

Featured speakers include R.K. Stewart, national AIA president.

The conference will draw architects from Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Also invited are contractors from northern Nevada.
