The unemployment rate in the Reno-Sparks metropolitan area rose to 4.8 percent in November compared with 3.8 percent a year earlier and compared with 4.5 percent in October, the State Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation said.
Total employment in the Reno-Sparks area in November was 219,300 compared with 217,100 a year earlier.
Carson City's unemployment rate in November was 5.6 percent compared with 4.7 percent a year earlier.
The November jobless rate in the Reno-Sparks area translates into about 11,100 people who are looking for work. A year earlier, about 8,500 people were out of a job.
