DIS, Inc. a technology company that protects structures from earthquake damage, plans a move from its present 28,000-square-foot facility in Sparks to expanded quarters in a 100,000-square-foot building at Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.

"We wanted to own our own building," says Mitch Malan, plant manager. DIS will occupy 60,000 square feet at 885 Denmark Drive and lease the remainder.

Miles Construction is the builder and WJA Architecture of Seattle is the designer.

The company plans to hire another 10 to 12 employees after the company moves at year-end.

It has several new products to deal with floor isolation now in the design and testing phase, says Malan.

Incorporated in 1982, DIS develops and applies of seismic isolation (also known as base isolation) and energy dissipation technologies. It has provided isolators for more than 100 bridges and more than 110 buildings.
