Wi-Fi Wednesdays, a networking event for the connected generation, will kick off on August 22.

The event, which targets young professionals in the 21-39 age group, is sponsored by Nevada's Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology and the Reno Tahoe Young Professional's Network.

The premier event will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at The Chocolate Bar, 475 S. Arlington Ave.

It will feature a YouTube video contest and a round of "speed networking," a twist on the "speed dating" concept. Entrants in the YouTube contest may submit video links (three min max) to Emily@NCET.org. Cost for the event is $5 per person for Reno-Tahoe YPN members and $10 per person for non-members; reservations are preferred through RSVP@NCET.org.

Wi-Fi Wednesdays is the brainchild of Emily Lowe, marketing manager for Nevada's Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology, and Robert Payne and Josh Kenzer of Twelve Horses.

They said they believe young professionals want a tech-savvy networking venue.
