A thee-building retail development at McCarran Boulevard and Kresge Lane the former site of a Humane Society shelter is expected to be complete by mid-2008, says its developer.
The project includes 10,880 square feet of retail space, most of it already leased, as well as a 3,900-square-foot building that will house a First Independent Bank of Nevada branch.
Dean Smith of Reno, a managing member of development company Fran/Glo Investments #2, said the two-acre site is attractive for retail development because of the high traffic count on McCarran Boulevard.
The center also will draw from the the 10,000 people who work in the busy industrial neighborhoods within a mile radius, Smith said.
Frank Lepori Construction Inc. of Sparks is the general contractor on the project. Its president, Frank Lepori, joins with Smith in ownership of the company developing the property.
The bank building is expected to be complete in early 2008, Smith said, with the other retail buildings completed next summer.
The property became available for redevelopment after the Nevada Humane Society moved to the new regional animal services center on Longley Lane last year.
