Valley Construction Co., a Las Vegas-builder that targets small and mid-sized jobs, has launched northern Nevada operations from an office at 500 Ryland St.

Ralph Smith, formerly a senior vice president for the UPA Group and a general superintendent with Clark & Sullivan Constructors, is vice president and chief operating officer of Valley Construction.

Also based in the Reno office will be Paul Shaw, a senior estimator and superintendent, and Patrick Spydell, a senior project manager. Shaw most recently worked for UPA Group on the Montage project in downtown Reno. Spydell worked on the Montage project and held positions with TNT Construction and Krump Construction.
