Altair Nanotechnologies Inc. of Reno said Phoenix Motorcars, a maker of electric vehicles, ordered an additional $2.2 million in batteries.

Earlier this month, Altair executives had delayed a shipment to Phoenix until it received payment. The payments now have been made and the shipments are flowing, said Altair President and Chief Executive Officer Alan Gotcher.

Phoenix Motorcars, which is based at Ojai, Calif., has committed to purchase $4.07 million in battery packs from Altair. It uses them in electric-powered sport utility vehicles.
