Ballroom dance center nears opening in Reno

Starlite Dance Center, a ballroom dance business with a 2,500-square-foot sprung oak hardwood dance floor, will open Dec. 8.

The ballroom owned by Michael Pyles is at 3945 S. McCarran Blvd. near its intersection with Longley Lane. The business occupies 5,000 square feet.

Pyles, trained as an instructor by the Fred Astaire School of Dancing, has owned ballroom schools in Oklahoma and Florida.

Along with private and group lessons in ballroom and Latin dance steps, Starlite Dance Center will conduct big-band tea dances on Sunday afternoons and social events on Friday and Saturday evenings.
