The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada will move to downtown Reno next month.
Executives of the agency said last week that EDAWN will move to 4,348 square feet in an office building at 201 W. Liberty. EDAWN currently leases 5,950 square feet at 5190 Neil Road near the Meadowood Mall.
Chuck Alvey, president and chief executive officer of EDAWN, said the move will improve operations efficiency as it allows the agency to bring all its staff into one office.
Currently, staff members split between two suites.
EDAWN also needs less office space after it cut nine positions from its staff when the state government cut its financial support of the economic development agency in half. After the cuts, EDAWN's staff totals 13.
Alvey has noted, too, that EDAWN had staffed up to meet the needs of Target2010, a wide-ranging study of the region's economic future that was completed up in late 2006.
EDAWN expects to complete its move during the first week of November.
