Dermody Properties said last week it has started construction on a three-building industrial development in Stead.
The project dubbed LogistiCourt at Silver Lake is projected to include three buildings totaling nearly 1.4 million square feet of space.
The first building in the industrial park will be a 545,550-square-foot distribution center on a 24-acre site. Dermody executives said they expect to lease the building to several users.
The project is west of the intersection of Moya and Lear boulevards, about two miles north of U.S. 395. It's scheduled for completion next summer.
Gregg Shutt, Dermody Properties partner for its western region, said company executives will pitch the project's proximity to the Reno-Sparks area as well as the availability of a nearby workforce when they meet with potential tenants.
"With not many options for new big-box warehouse and distribution facilities in Reno, the Stead area has evolved as the primary location for industrial development," Shutt said.
Blakely Johnson & Ghusn is project architect, the general contractor project manager is United Construction Company and Odyssey Engineering manages the project's civil engineering.
Last month, Dermody Properties said it purchased 50 acres at Tahoe Reno Industrial Center and plans to develop it under the "LogistiCourt" brand. Groundbreaking at TRIC is scheduled for next spring.
