AGC's national economist to headline outlook forum

Ken Simonson, chief economist of Associated General Contractors of America, will discuss the outlook for residential and other construction in Reno this week.

Simonson will be the lead speaker at the third annual construction outlook session sponsored by the Nevada Chapter of the Associated General Contractors. The forum will take place from 7-9 a.m. on Wednesday at the AGC Building, 5400 Mill St.

Simonson will analyze the slowdown in residential markets and its impact on labor and materials costs.

Ken Stark and Brad Elgin of Stark & Associates/TCN Worldwide Commercial Real Estate, meanwhile, will present a forecast for industrial and commercial construction, and Len Stevens, executive director of the Sparks Chamber of Commerce, will discuss small business issues this year.

Keith Schwer, director of The Center for Business and Economic Research and an economics faculty member at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, will provide an overview on the business and economic environment of Las Vegas and the state and how they impact the northern Nevada region.
