The Builders schedule conference

The Northern Nevada Building Conference and Forecast 2008 & Beyond will be hosted by The Builders Association of Northern Nevada at the Peppermill Hotel Casino Wednesday.

The forecast, hosted by The Builders' Sales and Marketing Council, will include presentations by:

* Wayne Capurro, president of the Reno/Sparks Association of Realtors, and Amy Lessinger, a member of the association's board, on trends in residential sales and the outlook for 2008.

* Tim Ruffin of Colliers International, who will discuss office, retail and industrial real estate trends.

* Mark Krueger of Grubb & Ellis, who will review sales trends for residential land.

* John Mitchell, an economist for US Bank, who will provide a economic outlook into 2008.

The building conference, meanwhile, will include sessions on green building guidelines led by Tony Abreu from Pearce Construction and Kevin Dick from the University of Nevada's Small Business Development Center.

Michael Murray from Forma Home Systems will speak about panelized construction and building green for less.

Bob Belknap and Norma Havens from the University of Street Smarts will explain why construction slowdowns don't have to be fatal to businesses, Valerie Carderas, president of Strategic Essentials, will discuss profitability in good times and bad, and sales entertainer Dean Hankey will present "Sales Success Isn't Magic, It Just Seems That Way!"
