Rina Schumer has been hired as an assistant research professor specializing in statistical hydrology at the Desert Research Institute.
Schumer earned a doctorate in hydrogeology from the University of Nevada, Reno, where she also earned master's degrees in applied mathematics and hydrogeology. She received her bachelor's degree in earth and environmental sciences from Wesleyan University.
