An interchange on Interstate 80 at USA Parkway at Tahoe Reno Industrial Center opened to traffic last week.
The parkway is the primary thoroughfare through the industrial park and ultimately will link I-80 to Highway 50 about 18 miles to the south.
The $20 million construction project was financed by Roger Norman, the owner and developer of Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.
No state funds were involved, although the interchange was built to state standards.
The interchange was built by Q&D Construction of Sparks. F&P Construction of Reno did the preliminary grading work.
The first truck through the new interchange was from Wal-Mart. The company will be a heavy user of the interchange with 300 trucks going to and coming from its nearby 970,000 square foot distribution center.
