Ken Pierson

Ken Pierson has been named director of business development by the Nevada Commission on Economic Development.

Pierson previously was director of business development for the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada.

He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1980.

Roger Scime

Roger Scime has joined SuppliesExpert.com, a Reno-based online retailer of toner cartridges, to spearhead its search-engine optimization efforts.

Scime previously was owner of SiteFixers/The Internet Advantage, a Web site design company he founded in 1995.

He earned a master's degree in journalism from the University of Nevada, Reno.

Thomas E. Callicrate

Thomas E. Callicrate has been promoted to president and chief executive officer of Consolidated Goldfields Corp. He previously was vice president of exploration at the Reno-based company.

Callicrate, who also serves on the board of the publicly held company, was a founder of Consolidated Goldfields. He has 28 years of experience in the mining industry.

Don Johnson

Don Johnson has joined the Reno office of Wood Rogers, an engineering, land planning and surveying and mapping firm, as manager of its mapping department.

Johnson has 38 years experience in surveying and mapping.

Marilyn Stephens

Marilyn Stephens has been hired as an account manager by Hometown Health, the insurance division of Renown Health.

Stephens, who has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, previously worked as a national accounts group representative with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina.

She attended Gardner-Webb College in North Carolina.

Dennis Cassineli

Brenda Eno

Dennis Cassineli and Brenda Eno have joined the staff of the Reno office of PBS&J, an engineering and construction management company.

Casinelli will work as a construction inspector on the Carson City freeway bypass project. He is a licensed contractor in Nevada with 20 years of construction experience.

Eno joined the company as a receptionist. She has more than 20 years of marketing and administrative experience.

Kristen Kebler

Kristen Kebler has been promoted to account coordinator in the Reno office of MassMedia Corporate Communications. She previously was an intern with the company.

Kebler earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, Calif.

Andy Holtmann

Andy Holtmann has joined Reno-based Raving Consulting Co. as vice president of communications.

Holtmann previously worked as editor of Casino Journal. He also has worked as a reporter and editor at the Pahrump Valley Gazette and as a reporter for the Las Vegas Sun.

Chris Patrick

Chris Patrick has been named director of food and beverage for the Alpine Meadows and Homewood Mountain resorts at Lake Tahoe.

Patrick previously was executive chef at Bistro 412 at Park City, Utah. Earlier, he was owner of Thyme Savour Personal Chef Service at Truckee.

Jason Stevens

Jason Stevens has been hired as a project manager in the northern Nevada office of United Construction Co.

He has more than 10 years experience in construction, including management of projects such as the Wal-Mart food distribution center at Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.

Stevens graduated from Boise State University with a bachelor's degree in construction management.

Michael T. Coleman

Michael T. Coleman has been named deputy administrator of a new workforce solutions section of the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

Coleman previously oversaw the department's rehabilitation division, a position he held for five years. Prior to coming to DETR, Coleman worked for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities and the Minnesota Department of Economic Security.

Deborah Braun has been promoted from deputy administrator to administrator of the rehabilitation division, succeeding Coleman.

Fred Boyd

Fred Boyd has joined Kaizen Consulting Services in Reno as a senior success partner.

Boyd was co-owner of Napa-Sonoma for 11 years after 25 years of corporate management experience.

He most recently worked as interim chief executive officer of the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce and as a consultant with Corporate Solutions Inc. on a three-year study of gang activity in the state.

Harry O. Parsons

Harry O. Parsons, a certified public accountant and managing shareholder of Pangborn & Company Ltd. in Reno, has been elected Mountain Regional Director for the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.

Parsons has served on the Nevada State Board of Accountancy since 2001. He also serves as chairman of the NASBA Ethics Committee, and last year was appointed to the Professional Ethics Executive Committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

John Kennedy

John Kennedy has joined the staff of Moana Nursery, where he will manage Moana Water Works projects.

Kennedy, who has six years experience in waterscape, previously worked in Mount Shasta, Calif.

He earned a degree in business from San Diego State University.

Camilla Downs

Camilla Downs, chief executive officer of Corner Your Market Reno Inc. has written a workbook, "Blogging for More Business:

6 Steps to Attract More Business." The workbook is sold in downloadable or spiral-bound versions at www.bloggingworkbook.com.

Jeffrey Benjamin

Jeffrey Benjamin of Breakthrough Training in Reno recently began hosting Breakthrough Radio which airs at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday on KKFT 99.1 FM Talk.

Jerry Smith

Jerry Smith, an Allstate Insurance Co. agent in Reno, has been recognized by the company as its "Exclusive Agent of the Year" for Nevada, a recognition that's based on sales performance and customer loyalty.

State tourism commission

Four northern Nevada executives have been appointed by Gov. Jim Gibbons to the Nevada Commission on Tourism.

Appointed were Cindy L. Carano, executive director of hotel operations at the Eldorado Hotel Casino in Reno; Blaise Carrig, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Heavenly Mountain Resort at South Lake Tahoe; Bruce Dewing, president and general manager of AWI Gaming, operator of Sturgeon's Inn & Casino at Lovelock; and Ryan Sheltra, general manager of the Bonanza Casino in Reno.

Lionel Sawyer attorneys

Colleen Dolan, Jennifer Smith and Dan Reaser of the Reno office of Lionel Sawyer & Collins have been recognized in the July 2008 edition of "Nevada Super Lawyer," which identifies the top 5 percent of the state's lawyers.

Dolan works in real estate law, Smith in bankruptcy and creditor and debtor rights and Reaser in gaming law.

Shawn Elicegui and Bill McKean, who both work in administrative law in the firm's Reno office, were recognized by "Nevada Rising Stars," which identifies the top 2.5 percent of the state's young lawyers.

Mark Drahos

Mark Drahos, a project manager with Panattoni Construction Inc. in Reno, has earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) professional accreditation.
