Ad2Reno, a group of young people in the advertising field, placed first in the annual American Advertising Federation's Ad2 public service competition.
It's believed it's the first time that any ad group from Nevada has taken first place in an American Advertising Federal competition.
The group created a marketing campaign for the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission titled "What's in a Name?" based on identifying people by name rather than by their afflictions.
Along with traditional media, Ad2Reno distributed nametags throughout the city and posted a wall of change in the West Street Plaza for community members to post messages of hope.
It raised $60,000 of in-kind donations to make the campaign a reality.
Presenting the campaign at the national competition were Jessie Gardner with jg designers, Kevin Jones with Mr Jones design and Melissa Molyneaux with Colliers International. Ad2Reno won $800 in prize money.
Last year it placed third in the competition. Past public service campaigns included work for Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Nevada EcoNet and Court Appointed Special Advocates. NNBW staff
