James Atcheson, M.D., a Reno physician who practices with Renown Health Medical Group, has been recognized as the Distinguished Physician of the Year by the Nevada State Medical Association. It's the highest recognition of the association.
Atcheson is a specialist in diabetes, endocrinology, metabolism and internal medicine. He has practiced medicine for 42 years.
He was educated at the University of Nevada, Reno and attended medical school at the University of Utah. He completed a residency at the St. Louis City Hospital and was chief resident at Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Utah's College of Medicine in Salt Lake City. He also completed a fellowship in endocrinology at the University of Utah.
