TRIC retail project started
Developer Vince Griffith has begun work on his second retail project at Reno Tahoe Industrial Center.
The project is beginning with a 9,000-square-foot building, the first of four planned on a nine-acre site by Griffith, who also owns Reno Engineering.
It's across from a 10-acre retail site under development by Griffith on USA Parkway. Final grading is under way on that site.
Also nearby, Golden Gate Petroleum is developing a convenience store and gas station that also will include a Port of Subs franchise and a small casino.
Olcese wins resort work
Olcese Construction of Incline Village said last week it won a subcontract to dismantle portions of the lodge at the Diamond Peak Ski Resort near Incline Village.
The company will use a staff of 12 to dismantle half the roof structure along with some walls, siding and entryways. The demolition will prepare the way for an addition to the top floor of the lodge to be built by Al Shankle Construction of Minden.
The work is scheduled for completion in October.
Renown, foundation join
forces to open center
Renown Health said last week it struck a partnership with The Lili Claire Foundation to establish a resource center about syndromes such as Williams Syndrome, autism and Down Syndrome
The Renown Regional Medical Center will be one of four in the nation sponsored by the foundation. It will provide medical, psychosocial, educational and vocational services for individuals from infancy through adulthood.
The foundation is headquartered at Santa Monica, Calif., and also operates resource centers at Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Nashville.
Saint Mary's opens
vascular institute
Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center last week opened the area's first comprehensive vascular institute.
The center is a collaborative effort of Saint Mary's and its risk reduction center along with Reno Heart Physicians and Western Surgical Group.
Legends wins job
Legends Landscaping of Sparks last week won a $42,052 contract from the City of Sparks for landscaping in the median along Sparks Boulevard between Los Altos and Henry Orr parkways.
Tahoe.com revamped
Sierra Nevada Media Group, a unit of Reno-based Swift Communications Inc., has launched a redesign of its tahoe.com Web site. The redesign work was handled by Swift employees.
Home center picks KPS|3
hgcDIRECT (Home and Garden Center Direct) of Reno has selected KPS|3 Marketing, also of Reno, to implement an integrated marketing communications program for the launch of its 38,000-square-foot retail showroom of home improvement retailers and contractors.
The center at 2210 Harvard Way in Reno, next to Costco, is scheduled to open in July with 74 separate showrooms. The number of showrooms is projected to grow to 250 by January.
Exploration company
gives up on Lyon prospect
A Colorado mining company said last week its exploration of about 360 acres in the Cambridge mining district in Lyon County didn't turn up anything of interest.
Fischer-Watt Gold Co. Inc. of Lakewood, Colo., said it spent about $50,000 exploring the property it leased from Grandcru Resources Corp. of Vancouver. After the exploration didn't turn up economically significant gold deposits, Fischer-Watt said it will relinquish the property back to Grandcru.
The prospect is located 23 miles south of Yerington.
