Landscapers group honors top projects

Outdoor Environments of Nevada was recognized for the best overall entry in the annual Trophy Awards competition of the Nevada Landscape Association.

The company was recognized for its work on a private home. The project also won first place in the residential renovation category and first place in the landscape lighting categories of the competition.

Peri Landscape Construction took second place in the residential renovation category and Signature Landscapes won third.

Outdoor Environments also won first place for residential installations of less than $50,000. Second place in that category went to Signature

Landscapes.

In residential installations of more than $50,000, first place was won by Merritt Landscapes Inc. and second place by Reno Green Landscaping Inc.

Signature won first place in large commercial maintenance for its work at Fleur De Lis, second place for its work for the D'Andrea Homeowners Association and third place for its work at Cimarron.

Reno Green took first place in medium-sized commercial maintenance for its work at Villagio Della Montagna. Peri Landscape won second for its work at Damonte Ranch Parkway.

In the small commercial maintenance category, Reno Green took first with its work at an In-n-Out Burger location on South Virginia Street, Reno Green took second for its work with Greater Nevada Credit Union and Signature took third for its work with FICMA.

Reno Lawn & Landscape won first and third places in the large residential maintenance category, and Peri Landscape won second.

Mountain Scapes Inc. won first prize in the water features category. Greenhouse Garden Center won first place in the hardscaping category and also was recognized with the association's environmental award for a project at a private home.

Western Nevada Supply won the association's Tony Armstrong Humanitarian Award.

Individual awards included:

* Education: Leslie Allen of UNR Cooperative Extension and Steve Churchillo from the Reno Urban Forestry Commission.

* Ambassador: Debra Rae Drew, executive director of the Nevada Landscape Association.

* Lifetime Achievement: Harry Fahnestock, Western Turf.
