The City of Wells and the Walker River Paiute Tribe will receive grants through the U.S. Department of Agriculture to jump-start business activity.

Wells will receive $90,000 to establish a revolving loan fund to help start-up businesses, help restore buildings in the earthquake-damaged downtown and other needs of small businesses.

A study late last year identified the needs of businesses and consumers in the Elko County community.

The Walker River Paiute Tribe, meanwhile, received a grant for $18,878 to build a metal structure to house a fireworks business. The business currently is housed in a metal container with a single exit.
