More than half the slots have been filled for a free business survival workshop developed by a partnership of northern Nevada organizations and businesses.
Admission is free but limited to the first 100 people who sign up. When more than 50 business owners and managers signed up in the first two days that registration was opened, organizers began thinking about adding another workshop this spring.
The first workshop is scheduled Feb. 20-21 at the University of Nevada, Reno, campus. To register, go to www.extendedstudies.unr.edu and select "Business Survival Workshop" under the heading "Upcoming
Professional Development Courses and Programs."
Workshop topics will include:
* Expense control and cash management.
* Marketing strategies for recessionary times.
* How to develop key relationships.
* How to keep financing available.
* How to maintain and improve workforce productivity.
* How to prepare for eventual recovery.
The workshop will run from noon to 6 p.m. on Feb. 20 and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 21. Sessions will be at the UNR Continuing Education Building, 1041 N. Virginia St.
Organizations involved in developing, participating and sponsoring the event include: SCORE, Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce, Sparks-Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; UNR Extended Studies; UNR College of
Business; Northern Nevada Business Weekly; Nevada Small Business Development Center; Nevada Microenterprise Initiative; U.S. Small Business Administration; Nevada State Bank; and Heritage Bank.
