A seminar to help businesses win government contracts is scheduled in Reno Thursday. It's hosted by the Nevada Small Business Development Center and the Nevada Microenterprise Initiative, which plan a series of seminars on doing business with local, state and federal agencies.
Among the speakers at this week's seminar will be executives of Granite Construction, who will discuss contracting, subcontracting and other procurement opportunities.
Other groups providing information during the session will be the Procurement Outreach Program of the
Nevada Commission on Economic Development, the Small Business Administration, SCORE and the Veterans Business Outreach Center.
Among the subjects to be covered are how to find potential contracts, how to get a company ready to handle government contracts, the bidding process and how to implement good financing, marketing and bonding programs.
Organizers said they also will provide information about an Army Corps of Engineers conference in April at which northern Nevada businesses can provide information to government purchasing agents.
The seminar is free, but seating is limited. Register at www.nsbdc.org/education/calendar/.
The session begins at noon at the conference room in building C of the Washoe County Government Center, 1001 E. 9th St.
