New York company acquires JLH

JLH Inc., a mailhouse and fulfillment company in Sparks, has been acquired by Complemar Packaging & Fulfillment of Rochester, N.Y.

Both companies are privately held, and terms weren't disclosed.

Chris Fleiner, who owned JLH Inc., will continue as president of the JLH division of Complemar, and he said the change in ownership is likely to be transparent to JLH customers.

JLH employs 16 at a 24,000-square-foot distribution facility in Sparks. Complemar employs 65 at a 200,000-square-foot facility at Rochester.

Fleiner said the acquisition will allow JLH to pursue larger clients in fulfillment the third-party business of taking orders, filling them and shipping them.

Complemar handles assembly and fulfillment contracts for traditional and e-commerce companies, including some of the largest in the world.

Christine Whitman, chief executive officer and president of Complemar, said her company's customers wanted Complemar to provide lower costs and faster service to West Coast locations delivery that's

possible from a Sparks location.

JLH also provides sophisticated mailing services that were sought by Complemar as part of its growth strategy.

Fleiner said Complemar made the first inquiries with JLH last April, and talks about a potential acquisition got serious in mid-summer.

The deal, he said, allows JLH to contribute further to the region's economy.

"Now we're going to be bringing business to northern Nevada from the East Coast," he said.
