The newest promotion at the Silver Legacy Resort Casino, the Mansion at Silver Legacy, was the culmination of several months of planning from the casino's promotions and marketing committee, says Dave Fox, director of slot marketing.
Fox says a 10- to 12-person committee spent several hours a week formulating and cementing ideas for the mansion that occupies about 1,200 square feet on the casino floor. Cost for the promotion was about $150,000 and included construction, props, sound and lighting and marketing. Silver Legacy staff handled the construction in a six-week buildout.
"It was a lot of brainstorming," Fox says. "It took a lot of investigation into the competition around town see what everyone else is doing."
The four-room mansion opened Memorial Day Weekend and drew a lot of interest from casino patrons.
"It is like a small house; it is quite an attraction," Fox says. "What we put together has really created a stir. Guests really seem to enjoy it and it is definitely drawing business in."
Crews worked during slow days during week, and the casino's graveyard shift performed additional construction work that was loud.
"We turned the music up a little louder to drown out the hammering and sawing," Fox says. "It was kind of in an isolated corner so there was not a lot of traffic. And it was covered in plastic when we were painting, so it was pretty unobtrusive."
Fox says the most difficult aspect of pulling off the promotion was getting everyone on the same page.
"Coming up with a design was challenging, but once everyone agreed it just took off," Fox says.
