Jean and Patrick Mulreany weren't necessarily looking to sell Carson Valley Inn in Minden, and they certainly weren't conducting a quiet auction of the property before they reached an agreement to sell the property.

Instead, a spokesman for the couple says the offer from the current owners of Bodines Casino in Carson City simply represented the right sort of offer from the right sort of people at the right time.

The offer came from California horse breeder Mike Pegram along with the Carano family, owners of the Eldorado Hotel Casino and Tamarack Junction Casino and co-owners of the Silver Legacy Resort Casino in Reno, and Rick Murdock, the vice president of sales for the Eldorado.

Terms of the transaction weren't disclosed. It's expected to close by the end of this year, after completion of due diligence and regulatory approval and licensing.

The Carson Valley Inn, the largest hotel-casino property in the Carson Valley, includes 152 hotel rooms, a 75-room motor lodge, 59 RV sites, a casino, sports book, poker room, three dining facilities, two lounges, and more than 6,000 square feet of convention and banquet space.

The Mulreanys have owned the Carson Valley Inn for 25 years.

Pegram, who owned the 1998 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner Real Quiet, also found success as the owner of McDonald's franchises in Washington and Arizona.
