Washoe County emergency planners, who want more involvement by business leaders, have scheduled a table-top exercise June 18 to strengthen the relationship between the private sector and emergency agencies.
Participation in the workshop is free.
Washoe County Emergency Management executives said they hope the event will build ties between business managers and emergency planners, ensure that sufficient resources are available to deal with an emergency, and check out emergency response and recovery procedures.
The tabletop exercise will run from 12:30-5 p.m. at the Regional Emergency Operations Center, 5195 Spectrum Blvd. Registration, which is due by June 10, can be completed by calling Cathy Ludwig at 337-5859 or via e-mail at cludwig@washoecounty.us.
The Northern Nevada Business & Local Government Partnership, a group created to help with emergency planning, and Circus Circus Hotel & Casino are sponsors of the tabletop exercise.
It's funded by Michigan State University, which received a grant from the U.S. Department of Home Security to create public-private partnerships for emergency management.
