The second annual Nevada Black Chamber of Commerce Business and Networking Expo, the largest annual event for the Reno-based group, is scheduled Dec. 5.
The event, which includes speakers and panels discussing issues ranging from access to capital to creation of successful strategic alliances, will be at the Center for Unique Business Enterprises C4CUBE small business incubator at 300 E. 2nd St.
The expo runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It's free, although attendees are asked to register through pboyaking@sageintl.com.
"Our goal to promote the economic vitality of minority-owned and small businesses by providing opportunities to develop relationships with other local businesses, as well as resources and experts who can help their enterprises grow," said Mary-Ann Andrews, executive vice president of the chamber.
The group, with approximately thirty members, focuses on educational and networking at monthly meetings and monthly networking breakfasts. It's also involved with youth programs.
Andrews said the four-year-old organization has seen some modest membership growth in recent months including non-black members.
"We're not membership-driven," she said. "We want to be a resource center and help minority-owned and small businesses."
Sponsors of the expo include C4CUBE, Charles Schwab Bank, Sage International, Inc. and Wells Fargo. For details about sponsorships or exhibitor space go to: www.nevadablackchamber.com.
