Nevada Chapter AGC announces 2009 PINNACLE Awards winners

The Nevada Chapter of the Associated General Contractors last week announced winners of the 11th annual PINNACLE Awards, which honor the best construction projects of the previous year.

The winners among specialty contractors:

* Meeting the Challenge of A Difficult Job, under $500,000 Martin Iron Works, Sparks Police Department Access Improvements.

* Meeting the Challenge of A Difficult Job, over $500,000 Martin Iron Works, Reno Aces Baseball Park.

* Excellence in Client Service, over $500,000 Martin Iron Works, Reno Toyota dealership.

The winners among general contractors:

* Meeting the Challenge of a Difficult Job, over $5 million West Coast Contractors of Nevada, Desert Research Institute CAVE facility.

* Meeting the Challenge of a Difficult Job, over $5 million Devcon Construction, Reno Aces Baseball Park.

* Meeting the Challenge of a Difficult Job, under $5 million Granite Construction, Weber Dam modification.

*Excellence in Project Management, over $5 million Q&D Construction, Legends at Sparks Marina.

*Excellence in Project Management, under $5 million PENTA Building Group, Cantina Del Lobo, University of Nevada, Reno.

*Contractor's Innovation in Techniques or Materials, under $5 million Q&D Construction, NV Energy gas main extension.

* Sensitivity to Environment, History, Culture, over $5 million Q&D Construction, V&T Railway improvement Phase 2C.

* Sensitivity to Environment, History, Culture, under $5 million GuiDenby, Inc., 855 S. Center St.

* Excellence in Client Service, under $5 million Genseven Development & Construction, Signature Landscape Nevada Office.

* Excellence in Client Service, over $5 million Granite Construction, Highway 28 reconstruction.

Merit awards for highly regarded projects:

* Excellence in Project Management, over $5 million Devcon Construction, Reno/Tahoe Air Traffic Control Tower.

* Sensitivity to Environment, History, Culture, under $5 million TNT Construction, Seismic strengthening/restoration of St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral.

* Sensitivity to Environment, History, Culture, under $5 million United Construction, United Construction Corporation headquarters.

* Excellence in Client Service, under $5 million Q&D Construction, Nevada Waste Group roof renovation.

The PINNACLE Awards were established in 1999 by the Nevada Chapter AGC. General contractors compete for the award for projects under and over 5 million, while specialty contractors compete for projects over and under $500,000. The Utah Chapter of Associated General Contractors judged this year's awards.
