A team from the University of Nevada, Reno, took the $20,000 first prize in the graduate division of the sixth annual Donald W. Reynolds Governor's Cup Collegiate Business Plan Competition last week.
The team, Glyzen Technologies, developed a process to find markets for biodiesal waste.
Another team from UNR, Outbox Records LLC, took the $20,000 first prize in the undergraduate division for a plan to promote a music-recording label through digital music and social networking.
A third team from UNR won the Lt. Governor's Prize for a environmentally sensitive business plan.
The team, NOVAE Nanotechnology, won the $5,000 prize sponsored by NV Energy for a plan to provide high quality single-walled carbon nanotubes with reduced production costs.
The winners were selected from 54 entries from Nevada colleges and universities.
The competition is overseen by Nevada's Center for Entrpreneurship and Technology.
