Five organizations won "Silver Spike" awards in the annual competition sponsored by the Public Relations Society of America Sierra Nevada Chapter.
Weidinger Public Relations of Stateline for a special-purpose video; Abbi Public Relations of Reno for media relations, Weidinger Public Relations and Switchback PR & Marketing of Truckee for special events, Renown Health for employee communications (this also was the judges' choice as the top entry) and The Glenn Group of Reno for the best overall campaign with a budget of less than $25,000 and the best campaign with a budget of more than $25,000.
PRSA Awards of Excellence went to City of Sparks (special purpose video), Desert Research Institute (collateral materials) the Nevada Commission on Tourism (news releases), the Nevada National Guard (magazines), RKPR Inc. of Reno (newsletters and ongoing PR programs), R&R Partners of Reno and Renown Health (media relations), Weidinger Public Relations, (special events) and Switchback PR & Marketing (community relations).
