Tahoe Resources Inc., a newly created mining company, plans to employ about 25 people in an operations office in Reno.
The company will be headquartered at 5190 Neil Road.
Tahoe Resources' management team has its roots in Glamis Gold, a publicly held Reno mining company that was acquired by Goldcorp Inc. in 2006.
Kevin McArthur, who was the president and chief executive officer of Glamis, will hold similar roles in the new company. Brian Brodsky, who was Central America exploration manager for Glamis, will join Tahoe Resources in June as vice president for exploration. Jaime Mondragon, who was controller of a Glamis project in Guatemala, will serve as vice president and chief financial officer.
Tahoe Resources has an agreement in place to purchase a silver project in Guatemala from Goldcorp for $505 million in cash and shares of Tahoe Resources. Subsidiaries of Goldcorp would own a 40 percent stake in the new company after the purchase is completed.
The new company's corporate office is in Vancouver. It filed a preliminary prospectus with Canadian authorities last week for a public stock offering, although the size of the offering and the per-share price haven't been determined.
