Pier 1 location opens

Pier 1 Imports has opened a 10,000-square-foot store at 6137 S. Virginia St. in the Del Monte Plaza shopping center.

It's the first store opened by Pier 1 Imports in the United States since 2007.

Shiela Ward is the store's store manager, and the store will employ approximately 12-15 full- and part-time staff.

A Pier 1 location operated by Washoe Arc under license was previously in business at Smithridge Shopping Center until the 20-year license held by Washoe Arc expired in 2007.
