Jensen adds metal fabrication unit

Jensen Precast, a Sparks-based manufacturer of precast concrete products, said last week it's launched a metal fabrication division.

Jensen MetalTech, headquartered at the company's northern Nevada plant, engineers and manufactures steel and aluminum access hatches, doors, covers, and grates for subsurface utility enclosures.

That's a natural outgrowth for the company, whose precast business makes concrete utility vaults for electric, fiber optic, gas, telecommunications, and water infrastructure, said Chief Marketing Officer Eric Jensen.

The company said it expects no immediate additional employment with the addition of the new division, although sales growth might result in hiring.
