Laborers' Union Local 169 opened its new regional training center in Tahoe Reno Industrial Center last week.
The union expects to train up to 1,000 workers a year at the $2 million, 15,000-square-foot facility on 7.5 acres.
The center was designed by architect Don Mackey. Raven Construction was general contractor, and major subcontractors included Sierra Nevada Construction for earthwork and paving services, Lucky Concrete and Petersen Masonry.
Laborers' Union Local 169 represents about 1,200 members 1,000 active, 200 retirees.
